t\u00e9rmino medio, pues hay algunas cuyo solo nombre implica la idea de perversidad, por ejemplo, la malignidad, la desverg\u00fcenza, la envidia; y entre las acciones, lo el adulterio, el robo y el homicidio. Pues todas estas cosas y otras semejantes se llaman as\u00ed por ser malas en s\u00ed mismas, no por sus excesos ni por sus defectos. Por tanto, no es posible nunca acertar con ellas, sino que siempre se yerra. Y en relaci\u00f3n con estas cosas, no hay problema de si est\u00e1 bien o mal hacerlas, por ejemplo, cometer adulterio con la mujer debida y cuando y como es debido, sino que el realizarlas es, en absoluto, err\u00f3neo. Igualmente lo es el creer que en la injusticia, la cobard\u00eda y el desenfreno hay t\u00e9rmino medio, exceso y defecto; pues, entonces, habr\u00eda un t\u00e9rmino medio del exceso y del defecto, y un exceso del exceso y un defecto del defecto. The word means \u2018delight at another&#8217;s misfortune\u2019, Schadenfreude.<\/span> shamelessness, envy, and, of actions, adultery, theft, murder. All these and similar actions and feelings are blamed as being bad in themselves; it is not the excess or deficiency of them that we blame. It is impossible therefore ever to go right in regard to them\u2014one must always be wrong; nor does right or wrong in their case depend on the circumstances, for instance, whether one commits adultery with the right woman, at the right time, and in the right manner; the mere commission of any of them is wrong. One might as well suppose there could be a due mean and excess and deficiency in acts of injustice or cowardice or profligacy, which would imply that one could have a medium amount of excess and of deficiency, an excessive amount of excess and a deficient amount of deficiency.
